Adopt a German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat)

Hi, my name is Woody, and I am approximately 4 years old.  My foster mom says that I am the sweetest boy she has ever met.  I had my visit to the vet, and he said I have beautiful hips (I think that is a compliment), and that I am in perfect health.  I am very friendly and love everyone!  I love when friends come to visit, but I am a big boy (foster mom says I’m a little tubby but we are working on it), so I probably wouldn’t be the best around very small children because I get so excited to play.  I play very well with other dogs and I would be great with a dog savvy cat.  I do love those things called squirrels, and I will look up in the trees just to find one.  I am a very quick learner and a very patient student.  I am completely housetrained and, if you must, crate trained.  But, my foster mom lets me roam the house while she is at work, and I do not get into any trouble.  I love going for long walks, and I am working on my leash manners.  I just get so excited when I see a possible playmate that I forget that foster mom is on the other end of the leash.  I have very good manners once corrected.  I also love to go for rides and as long as I am with you, I am a very happy boy.  I do not mind when the cat comes over while I am eating or wants to check out my toys, so I share very well.  I would be perfect for a large family of older children and other dogs for playmates.  I do have to have a grain free diet to keep my skin and coat in good condition.  If you would like to make me part of your family, please contact your adoption coordinator.  If you’re not already approved and in VA, NC or MD, you can find our adoption application at our website, www.southeastgermanshepherdrescue.com (be sure to read the FAQ section!).  I am being fostered in Newport News, VA.
